New to Commander, new to Cape Town, or just looking for a regular pod? Here’s where to play.
We went through the official Wizards event locator and listed the stores running Commander, sorted by area. Days, times and prices are as listed there in October 2026.
Milnerton
The Luckshack (Zastron Road)
The most Commander on the list. Tuesday Commander Night from 18:30 and Saturday Commander from 10:30, both R30. They also run Friday Night Magic as Commander from 18:30 on some Fridays.
Sword and Board Games and Hobbies (Point Business Park)
Runs Duel Commander, which is 1v1 Commander, on alternate Fridays from 19:00 for R50. The other Fridays are Pauper. They also had a Wednesday Commander locals night listed, so check their events page for the current week.
Southern Suburbs
Luckshack Plumstead
Casual Commander every Wednesday from 17:00, R20. It’s run as a casual event, so it’s a good one for newer players.
Geekware Shop (Plumstead)
Not a Magic store, but worth the stop. A Dungeons & Dragons shop in The Village Square with a great community, loads of minis and dice, and D&D events. Perfect if your pod has ever talked about starting a campaign.
City Bowl
Wizards Collection Cape Town (Wembley Square, Gardens)
A trading card shop that stocks Magic. They had a Wednesday evening Magic night on the locator, but it isn’t showing as a weekly event, so ask in store before you plan around it.
Northern Suburbs
Stag Gaming (Durbanville)
Sells Magic and runs events around set releases, including a Commander party for Reality Fracture. No regular weekly Commander night listed at the moment.
The Battle Bunker in Tygervalley Shopping Centre and SATC Gaming in Table View are also registered Wizards stores, but neither had Magic events listed when we checked and we couldn’t confirm what they run.
Helderberg
The Trade Inn (Gants Plaza, Strand)
Casual Commander on Tuesdays from 17:00 and Sundays from 10:00, R30.
Deep South
Luckshack South (Fish Hoek)
The Fish Hoek branch of The Luckshack, on Recreation Road. No Commander events listed on the locator at the moment, so check with them.
Before you go
- Check the Wizards Store & Event Locator or the store’s Facebook before you drive out. Schedules change around set releases.
- Talk brackets before the game starts. Most casual nights are happy at B2 or B3.
- Ask about proxies first. Some stores are fine with them, some aren’t.
- Bring dice and a pen.
If you need something to carry your 100 card deck in, or dice for all those +1/+1 counters, we’ve got deck boxes and counter dice.
